    Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

    Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common mental health disorders. ADHD can make it hard to pay attention, stay focused or control behavior.     What is ADHD?

    A medical team with experience and in-depth knowledge about ADHD should diagnose the condition. Symptoms can vary. Some people with ADHD:

    • Get distracted easily and often forget things
    • Switch quickly from one activity to the next
    • Have trouble following directions
    • Often seem to be daydreaming
    • Have trouble finishing tasks
    • Have trouble staying organized and often misplace things
    • Have trouble sitting still
    • Talk a lot and often interrupt people
    • Often pace or run around
    • Are often impatient
    • Have trouble controlling their emotions and behavior
    • Are often late

    ADHD starts in childhood but can continue into adulthood. It can be difficult to diagnose, and without the right treatment and support, it can affect learning and development, as well as socialization, relationships and future success.

    Treating ADHD

    Neuropsychological testing – using timed, computer-based tests to measure attention and problem-solving skills – can help doctors determine whether symptoms are caused by ADHD or some other condition. The right treatment for one person might not work for another, so it’s critical to work with an experienced, specialized team with access to a wide range of treatment options and support.

    Once diagnosed, treatment for ADHD might include a combination of medication, psychotherapy, education and other forms of support. Our team works to find the most effective treatment path and to carefully manage medications so each patient reaches his or her fullest potential.
